Installation Guidelines for KL-17 Water Repellent
TECHNICAL DATA
Contents: Water, sodium methyl siliconate
Color: Clear upon application
Weight: 2.4 lbs./32 oz. + .5%
Flash Point: None
pH: 10.5 – 12.5 + 5% in concentrated state
LIMITATIONS
Application Temperature: Apply in temperatures above 40ºF
Storage: Do not allow product to freeze
Curing Time for New Concrete: Allow 14 consecutive days without precipitation/moisture
Drying Time: Allow to dry 24 hours prior to coating over with paint, plaster, tile, vinyl flooring or overlay materials, or prior to backfilling.
Poured and Block Foundations: Recommended for interior as well as exterior application.
Coverage: Up to 150 sq. ft. per mixed gallon (dependent upon surface porosity and density).
KL-17 overspray on metal, glass, wood, or any non-porous surface is not harmful but will leave a residue that may be difficult to remove.
Kl-17 is not intended to seal visible cracks or crevices or act as a substitute for repointing defective mortar joints.
INSTALLATION
- Prior to the application of KL-17, all surfaces must be sound, clean, dry, and cured a minimum of 14 days. All existing surface dirt, chemical films, paint, oil, tar, grease and stains should be removed from the surface.
- For best results, KL-17 must be able to freely penetrate the surface thoroughly.
- Mix 1 part KL-17 to 3 parts water and apply with a low pressure sprayer. On walls, start by spraying at the top. Saturate the surface as much as possible without causing puddling or run-down. If puddling occurs, remove by spreading before the KL-17 dries.
NOTE: To ensure effective results, always test KL-17 on the surface to be treated on a small sample area. Apply one coat only! The surface will not absorb a second coat once the material is dry. KL-17 must be able to penetrate and saturate freely into the pores of the substrate. If water can saturate and penetrate the surface, so will KL-17.
